• Brandon Kanitz

    MANAGING PARTNER

    Brandon founded Thornapple River Capital in 2015 and brings two decades of investment experience. Brandon also assumed the role of CEO of Fluresh (a vertically integrated cannabis company) in March 2022. Brandon co-founded Fluresh and has been a member of the board since its organization in 2018.

    Prior to founding TRC, Mr. Kanitz was a Vice President at McDonald Partners where he managed client portfolio’s and also completed multiple investment banking transactions recapitalizing community banks after the great recession.

    Brandon resides in Suttons Bay with his wife Emily, son Adrian, and Dexter (yellow lab).

  • Genesis Guanga, CFA

    MANAGING PARTNER

    Genesis is a managing partner of Thornapple River Capital, a closely held investment partnership actively creating and investing in early-stage companies. Genesis is a co-founder and board member of Fluresh.

    From 2012 until 2017, Genesis held a position with EquityCompass, an asset management subsidiary of Stifel (NYSE: SF). At EquityCompass, he held responsibilities in the areas of portfolio management, management of quantitative models, investment research, and product development.

    Prior to his time at EquityCompass, Genesis worked as a futures trader at a Virginia-based investment management company, where he was responsible for monitoring and managing risk across a number of investment strategies, including equity index futures. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is a member of the CFA Society Seattle.

  • Edgar D Jannotta Jr

    SENIOR ADVISOR

    Ned is a Senior Advisor to Thornapple River Capital. Since retiring from GTCR Golder Rauner in 2011, Mr. Jannotta has been actively investing personal and family capital in private businesses and real estate. He currently is a Director of five of those private businesses, including: HealthPrecision, Blinker, Alcyone Lifesciences, Arthromeda, and C3 HealthcareRx. He is also a Director and member of the Executive Committee of the Teton County Search and Rescue Foundation. He previously served as a Director and Treasurer of the Greater Yellowstone Coalition in Bozeman, MT.

    Prior to this, Ned was a Principal of GTCR from 1998 to 2011, when he retired from the Firm. He was Co-Head of GTCR’s Healthcare Group from 2000 to 2007 and Managing Principal of the Firm from 2003 to 2007. During his tenure at GTCR, the Firm invested in excess of $7.5 billion in over 100 companies, generating highly attractive returns for its limited partners. Prior to that, Ned was a Managing Director in William Blair’s private equity investing group from 1988 to 1998, where he and his partners were responsible for successfully investing two funds totaling in excess of $250 million. Before joining William Blair, he was an Associate at Golder, Thoma, Cressey in Chicago and a Financial Analyst at Salomon Brothers in New York and London.

  • Leah Guanga

    CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER (COO)

    Leah joined Thornapple River Capital in 2019 as Chief Operating Officer.

    Leah brings experience from her tenure at Mathematica Policy Research, where she held several positions across policy research and corporate strategy. In her more recent roles, she assisted with the development and execution of strategic initiatives, prepared financial models and forecasts, and developed enterprise-wide data dashboards for key performance metrics. She also assessed new business opportunities and prepared market and competitive analyses.

    Leah received a BA in Economics from Calvin College.

  • Rittik Rao, CFA

    VICE PRESIDENT

    Rittik joined Thornapple River Capital in 2022 and focuses on early-stage investing. Rittik is also an advisor for KYTE Dynamics, a drone delivery company.

    Rittik brings experience from his tenure at Goldman Sachs, where he developed and commercialized quantitative investing products, and worked on business strategy for a new “start-up” business within the firm. There, he worked on launching 15+ funds and helped raise over $17bn globally. He has also worked with Tribeca Venture Partners, a $200mn early-stage VC, and KYTE Dynamics, a delivery drone company.

    Rittik received his MBA in Management from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania as a Ford Fellow and Palmer Scholar. Prior to Wharton, he earned his BA in Economics from Cornell University, where he graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa; in addition, he holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.

  • Sarah Fuentes

    EXECUTIVE ADMIN

    Sarah joined Thornapple River Capital in 2018 as an executive assistant.

    Sarah brings experience from working at a dermatologist in West Michigan, knowing the importance of accuracy, discretion, and client confidentiality. Sarah also carries a Series 65 license from FINRA.

    Sarah’s pride and joy comes from raising her two sons into the successful young men they have become, and with whom she continues to have meaningful relationships with.
